Topolino’s Terrace Character Breakfast: Pastries, Mickey, and the Gang

Your Disney Vacation is booked (or you have mentally committed), and now, it is time to look at booking your Disney dining. Topolino’s Terrace Character Breakfast has come to your attention, but what should it make a list for you and your family? (That answer is obviously a yes, but no worries, I will break the “why” down for you!)

So, what is it that makes Topolino’s a “must-dine”?

Immerse Yourself in Disney Magic

First things first, what is it about a character meal that makes it unique? The character interactions, of course!

While at Disney, it almost seems a waste not to join in the magic of being able to dine while your favorite Disney characters come to your table. This isn’t just a hokey character experience where Donald Duck comes over, waves, signs your book, and leaves the table. No way.

With Disney character meals, you are immersed in the magic of character interactions that are brought to you. Instead of waiting in line, melting down with hangry members of your party, you get to sit and eat chocolate chip muffins and wait for Minnie Mouse to come to you!

That sounds pretty magical, right?

Topolino’s Terrace Character Breakfast: A Unique Dining Experience

If you have not yet been to Topolino’s Terrace, you are in for a delightful surprise. Towards the top of Disney’s Riviera Resort, you will find an enchanting restaurant with an outdoor terrace overlooking part of the Walt Disney World Resort area.

During the evening, Topolino’s Terrace- Flavors of the Riviera is an upscale, signature dining experience boasting French and Italian dishes. From the morning into mid-day, Mickey & Friends join you on the 10th floor of Disney Delight for breakfast à la art.

A beautiful view, delicious food, and a break from the craziness of the theme parks? It seems like a great way to spend a Disney morning!

Topolio’s Terrace Character Breakfast Menu: Enchantment for the Tastebuds

As we all know, Disney does not half-do anything. The same goes for their food across the parks. From the simplest snacks the the most intricate dinner dishes, you are bound to find some culinary wonders to delight the tastebuds.

That said, one should expect nothing less from the offerings at Topolino’s Terrace character breakfast.

Steak, eggs and roasted potatoes at Topolino's Character Breafast

From when you are served your complimentary paint bucket of fresh pastries to your last sip of famous POG juice, you are in for nothing short of a delight. So, what’s on the menu for this character dining experience?

Delectable Culinary Offerings

After being seated, all tables at Topolino’s for breakfast are served the most adorable paint bucket holding and assortment of pastries. To make things better, these pastries are served with house-made jam, honey butter, and chocolate-hazelnut spread to share. This is PERFECT for helping to keep hungry littles busy while they wait for Mickey Mouse to arrive!

As far as the breakfast menu itself goes, we will start with the kiddo’s plates. Topolino’s Character Breakfast offers a build-your-breakfast menu for the smallest of your crew (9 and under). For the main dish, they can choose scrambled eggs, fruit, and yogurt, or the famous Mickey waffle dippers. (Seriously so good!) As for their sides, kids are allowed to make two selections with the choices of bacon, sausage, roasted potatoes, or a fruit cup.

There is ZERO reason they should be leaving breakfast hungry!

As for you, the prix fixe menu is NOT going to disappoint. From sweet to savory, they have it all! Here is a quick peek at the offerings:

  • Wood-Fired Butchers Steak and Eggs (This comes with pomodoraccio tomatoes and wild mushroom conserva. It was my most recent entree choice and was terrific!)
  • Sour Cream Waffle (Served with Orange-Maple syrup and roasted apples; I have heard nothing but good things about this one!)
  • Quiche Gruyère (With house-made pancetta and field greens, I watched this set down on a table near me and was so sad I didn’t get it.)
  • Wild Mushroom Scramble (This comes with plant-based sausage and plant-based eggs if you or someone in your party is after a solid vegan option.)
  • Bread Pudding Brûlée (this comes with seasonal compote; honestly, with my love for bread pudding, I was pretty sad this wasn’t on my table, too.)

And for the hungry but less adventurous:

  • Two Eggs Anyway (Served with roasted potatoes and your choice of meat)
  • Smoked Salmon (On an everything bagel with tomato and cream cheese)
  • Avocado Toast ( Ok, but it has prosciutto and a poached egg, so not your run-of-the-mill avocado toast.)
  • Fruit Plate (This one is probably as tame as the menu gets. It still looked pretty tasty coming out of the kitchen, though!

It should be noted that *MOST* dishes can be customized to be allergy-friendly. Just be sure to alert a cast member or your server before ordering.

Topolino’s Terrace Breakfast Specialty Drinks and Beverages

Regarding drinks at Topolino’s Terrace character breakfast, you will find nothing short of delight on that menu as well.

In addition to your usual breakfast beverage options, you will find the following available to you during your meal:

  • POG Juice – Disney has heard the cry of the people, and thus, all you care to enjoy POG juice is available at Topolino’s! This delicious blend of passion fruit, orange, and guava juices was initially only available over at Ohana but has made its way to the new Riviera Resort. If you have not tried it, it is such a refreshing way to start your morning!
  • Coffee on Coffee – Topolino’s covers you from your basic cup of joe to a caffeine-packed double espresso. Machiattos, lattes, mocha, and cappuccinos will also be found on this drink menu!
  • Non-Alcoholic Cocktails – If you want something for a more sophisticated palate without the buzz, check out the Riviera Spicy Bloody Mary or the Pineapple Jalapeno Margarita!
  • Alcoholic Beverages – Breakfast cocktails, anyone? With a Riviera Bloody Mary, a Bellini (so good!) a Mimosa on the menu, and a full bar offered, the possibilities are endless. Disney doesn’t go small on anything, and their alcohol pours speak to that. If your intention is not a buzzy day, be mindful of what you order!

In addition to all of these offerings, you will also find your typical breakfast juices and milk options. Any cast members in the dining room can advise as to if something different is offered, you just have to ask!

Interactions with Beloved Disney Characters

Now that we have discussed the food part of this meal let’s get to the characters! While you already know that you will encounter Mickey and his gang, Topolino’s presents them in unique outfits that add to the fun. This is the only place on the property where you can encounter these characters in this theming. Why don’t we get acquainted?

Magical Moments with Characters

Artist Mickey: Mickey Mouse arrives sporting his artist smock, ready to paint. Watch out; he is always looking for something to craft his next masterpiece after, and it could be you!

Poet Minnie: Minnie Mouse looks darling in her poet dress, as she wanders the dining room seeking inspiration for her next poem!

Sculptor Donald: Hopefully Donald Duck has become a tad more graceful as he has taken up sculpting. Otherwise, there is bound to be clay everywhere!

Ballet Dancer Daisy: Daisy Duck has come out of Hollywood Studios and brought her ballet to Topolino’s! She is dancing through the room, often as Donald chases her, trying to get her attention.

As you dine, you will have each of these characters visit you and your party at your table. Also, while the characters will interact with each other, they will only visit you one at a time so as not to overwhelm you.

Tips for a Memorable Experience at Topolino’s

You know what food awaits you. You know who you will find at Topolino’s Terrace Character Breakfast. So now is the time for tips before you head for the new Riviera resort.

Make a Reservation

First and foremost, if you are waiting to have Topolino’s breakfast, you will want to make a reservation. No worries, though; it is super simple to do so.

Up to 60 days before your trip, you can visit the My Disney Experience App to view available reservation times. Simply put in the size of your party, find a time that works for you, and book your table.

Now, I won’t say that if it is a slower time of the year you might be able to sneak in without a reservation. Topolino’s character breakfast is one of the newer character dining experiences, so it typically books fast. Having the reservation in place is undoubtedly smart if this meal is a must-do for your crew.

Bring Your Appetite

You have seen all of those food offerings, right?

Seriously, you want to make sure you show up to this meal with an appetite. From the time that pastry basket hits the table, you will be munching, and if those chocolate-chip muffins start calling your name, and you have to turn them down? Well, that may be a travesty.

Make Sure Your Phone is Charged

You will often not find a Photopass photographer at a character dining experience. While there are exceptions to this rule (I know Storybook Dining has a photographer set up for your audience with the Evil Queen, and Cinderella’s Royal Table has a photographer downstairs to capture your moments with Cinderella herself), Topolino’s is one of those meals where you are not typically going to find a cast member toting a green vest.

Therefore, ensure your phone or digital camera is fully charged before your visit. If you are hitting the park in the morning and catching a late breakfast reservation at Topolino’s, I recommend bringing your portable charger. You will not want to miss capturing the memories during your time at Topolino’s.

Bring Your Autograph Book

If you do not want to spend hours on your trip chasing down characters’ autographs, you are not going to want to forget your autograph book in the hotel. With Mickey, Minnie, Donald, and Daisy all visiting you at your table, this is the PERFECT opportunity to ask them for their autograph to complete your collection!

Also, this is the perfect opportunity to see Micky and Minnie without the crazy long wait you often experience in the park. In the past, I have seen the line to meet Mickey and Minnie at well over an hour. Now, you can grab your autograph, hug, and photo for your collection and skip the line in the park if it takes too much time!

Don’t Forget to Visit the Terrace

Once your meal is finished and you have said goodbye to Mickey and Friends, I know you may be in a rush to get back to the parks. Before you leave the dining room, though, don’t forget to take a few minutes to step out onto the terrace.

You can catch some seriously amazing views of Disney World from out on the Terrace. Dining at Topolino’s is the only way to access the terrace. Therefore, it is worth taking a few minutes to experience this added magic before you head back to the busy of your day.

A Note On The Disney Dining Plan

Since the Disney Dining Plan is back, it is worth mentioning that Topolino’s Terrace Character Breakfast is on the plan! While some character meals are now taking two credits, as of the time of the publishing of this post, Topolino’s Character Breakfast will only cost you one per person.

Please note that while the dining plan covers the meal itself, however, this will NOT cover any gratuity for the meal. You will want to bring cash for tip, or write one in on the receipt to be charged to the card on file for your plan.

Also, remember those breakfast cocktails we talked about earlier? Take note that one of those is included on your dining plan for every adult member of your party. Yum!

Topolino’s Terrace Character Breakfast: Off to the Dining Room

Now that you have all of the details about Topolino’s character breakfast, all that’s left is for you to head off to the 10th floor of the Riviera and get your dine on! If you have not yet booked your vacation, I suggest contacting Charming Getaways by Kam. Not only will she help to book that perfect vacation, but she will snag those dining reservations, too!
